Current Collingwood Football Director and former Geelong Football Operations Manager and Melbourne Coach Neil Balme will headline the Roos annual Sportsman's Luncheon on January 7.
Balme will be joined by former Kiwi paceman and current commentator Danny Morrison who is arguably better known as boasting one of the poorest batting records in test history. But he's also one of only two Kiwi's to take a ODI hatrick.
The third speaker will be a Collingwood Assistant Coach however we are still awaiting confirmation on who exactly it will be as the team will be on the Coast for their pre-season camp.
Neil Balme
Two Time Richmond premiership player Neil Balme is currently Director of Football at Collingwood and will on the Sunshine Coast as apoart of Collingwood's training schedule at Fisherman's Rd. Prior to his current role, Balme was Football Operations Manager during the remarkable 2007 - 2013 era at Geelong that yielded the club 3 premierships and another GF appearance.
Balme also coached SANFL club Norwoord to two premierships of an 11 year reign in which the club never missed finals then coached the Melbourne Demons for 98 games from 1993 to 1997.
Danny Morrison – NZ Cricketer
A former NZ pace bowler and current commentator whose most notable accomplishment, depsite being one of only two Kiwi's to take a ODI hat trick, is that he once held the world record for Test ducks. Of the 48 Tests he played, he was dismissed without scoring in 24 innings.
Morrison was often subjected to good natured ridicule regarding this from his teammates and is sometimes referred to as "The Duckman".
However, he did have some batting prowess. His most famous innings was when he contributed 14 in a 106-run partnership with Nathan Astle for the tenth wicket against England, to save the match.
Plus a Collingwood Assistant Coach - TBA
