Most will be aware that the Football season has been delayed by one week only. First Division will now commence on Saturday 28th April.
Donvale play Norwood (newcomers to 1st Divy) @ Donvale. This year we will have Under 18's so each Saturday will be a full day with Under 18's starting @ 9.45am.
Quite a few things have happened during the off season.
Senior Coach - Scott Grigg (previously Donvale Reserves Coach)
Reserves Coach - Mark Djordevic
Under 18's Coach - Brendan McCormack
Some key new players:
New Players Donato D'Angeles (Irymple, Sunraysia League)
Chris Jones (St. Mary's, Geelong League)
Daniel Breadmore (Scottsdale, Northern Tassie Amateurs)
We have also added a number of young players to the list
Departed players Ryan Power (Overseas)
Tyson Heinrich (Overseas)
Sam Armstrong (Overseas)
Jordan Kruger (Overseas)
Brad O'Conner (Return to Robinvale)
James O'Donnell (Work commitments)
Tim Morden (Work Commitments)
Shannon Gilson
Over the pre-season period, the boys were training at the Donvale Primary & Mulluana College.
We have been able to play in 3 practice matches against Old Brighton, Maryibrnong Park & St. Kilda City. We won all these games by slender margins except Maryibrnong Park which was a 4 goal victory.
This season will be extremely tough with a new look 12 team first division. Balwyn, Scoresby & Norwood are the new teams with Mitcham being relegated. We have been seeded as a top 6 side so must play all the power sides twice. Ultimately we play 7 sides twice & 4 sides once. Therefore some of the lower seeded sides may only play a Vermont, Noble Park once, so this should make positions around the middle of the table very interesting. There will be a final five this year.
