It was a fantastic evening on the 10th of October, 2015 at the Tower Hotel in Hawthorn East, with all of the Yarras' finest attending for the Club's night of nights. In among the 100 guests were South Yarra’s life members and sponsors.
The Yarras toasted Bruce Hill for his dedication and hard work around the club and his election to the SFNL's inaugural Hall of Fame.
Anthony Pane finally got the award he has long been searching for, the Best Club Person Award.
It was the inaugural year of the SYFC Netball team and Julia McPhee took home the top prize, the Best & Fairest with 123 votes. She pipped Jessica Buerckner in the final round making it a very interesting vote count. Jessica took home the runner up award with 109 votes, being less than one Best on Ground performance from snatching first place.
The Thirds' skipper, Kingsley Hill capped off a fantastic year for the Lions winning the Bruce Hill award for the Thirds Best & Fairest with 36 votes. He was followed by Ashley Evans with 30 votes. The difference being one Best on Ground.
In the Reserves, Adam Strelec went back to back in the SFNL's Division 3 Best & Fairest. This year he also won the Owen Pearse Award being the Reserve Grade Best & Fairest. Charlie McKee was a surprise Runner-up as not many punters picked him to poll 41 votes from less than half a season.
Jordy Cellini took out the top prize, the Colin Richards Award for the Senior Best & Fairest of 2015 with 65 votes. He is now up there with the Club’s greats including Garry "Mouse" Minall, Paul "The Sheen Dog" Sheehan and Josh Gledhill as dual winners. He was followed by the baby faced, Daniel Russell with 55 votes.
Brett Devlin gave a heartfelt speech as he said goodbye as the Senior Coach of the Football Club, we look forward to having Brett involved with the push in to the Junior leagues in 2016.
A big thanks to all those that assisted on the night, including our hosts the Tower Hotel, Hawthorn East.
Photos from the event can be viewed on the SYFC Facebook page.
