The Fiona Winter Realty Noosa Tigers were outstanding after quarter time as they advanced to the QFA North preliminary final with a thumping 15 goal win over Caloundra at Weyba Rd. last Saturday.
The Panthers were up and about as expected as an underdog in the opening stanza taking a near 3 goal lead into the first break. Bushy Copeland was a standout in defence as he repelled many of the oppositions forward thrusts.
The second quarter saw a complete reversal in dominance with gun onballers Maloney and Hill getting plenty of the footy. But it was the move of youngster Cain Tickner deep into the forward half that made a difference. His strength and presence as well as the fact he bagged 3 goals for the quarter sent the Tigers on their way. Add to this the flair and brilliance of Jed Brain, and the influence of the likes of Davis and Reilly were having on the match, and the second half was always in the Tigers control.
Thats how it turned out as the Noosa boys just outran and outplayed their Sunny Coast rivals to set up a huge and intriguing clash with arch rivals Maroochydore at Burpengary this Saturday. The Tigers had many good players; none better than star recruits Brent Maloney and Nick Hill who dominated the middle of the ground. Cain Tickners 6 goals up forward were a highlight and his aggression at the ball even more so, whilst Dogga Davis, Mark Reilly, Jai Fitzpatrick and skipper Tommy McKittrick were all influential in the victory.
Big game player Garry Wallace put in a blinder once again whilst Jed Mullins Copeland and Wilson deep in the back half set up many plays and rebounded beautifully all day.

The rest, last week, had done the Tigers the world of good and I must say it was the best performance for a couple of months and what a time to do it. Our list is fit and well with both the seniors and reserves playing Maroochydore at Burpengary this Saturday. Should be a great day and one not to be missed. It’s finals time and, as mentioned weeks ago, it’s when the Tigers step up.
A massive day awaits.
Go Tigers. Cheers Pittsy
