The Campbelltown Blues Senior Australian Football Club put in a stunning performance to defeat the Randwick City Saints 15.14 (104) to 2.14 (26) in the final round of the AFL Sydney Division four competition at Pioneers Park, Malabar on Saturday.
The Blues needed to win to have any chance of making the finals.
Randwick, whilst further down the ladder would be no easy task on their home ground renowned for its blustery wind conditions.
The Blues got off to a good start in the first quarter with Todd Makejev dominating in the ruck again.
Centre player Peni Mahina was out injured but Chantha Pal moved into the middle and took control.
Cameron Desmond at full forward was a good target.
Despite kicking against the wind the boys had a handy lead at quarter time.
The Saints tightened up the game in the second quarter and attacked but the Blues defence stood strong.
Alister Bowen, Lucas Bradley and Jerrimme Allsopp all defended well along with the other three defenders.
Into the second half Paul Green from a wing continued with his speed with the ball and with some strong targets up forward in Talbot, Buckley, Desmond and Kyle Bradley the Blues extended their lead.
