The Netballers upset Mordialloc and the Thirds weren’t good enough against the top of the ladder.
Masters BBQ
Big thanks to Hilly, Arlan, Klompy, Scarlo, Russell and Sarah for helping the club make some big cash in a very profitable day at Masters.
Yo-Get-It Auskick Report:
On Friday Night the Cubs learned how to mark. On Saturday the weather held off long enough for the Cubs to have a match at halftime of the Thirds game and they put on a display!
The Netball All 4 Pets Report:
The Netballers trained very hard at Yoga XTC on Tuesday. Round 14 was the final match for the Yarras in their inaugural season. The Yarras played the third placed, Mordialloc. The Yarras had a lot of support and big thanks to those who showed up cheering the Yarras on. Woiwod was on fire in the first term in the goals, giving the Yarras an impressive 9 goal lead at the first break. The momentum swung around in the second quarter, with the Yarras only up by 2 goals at the long break. O’Halloran was fantastic in defence limiting Mordialloc’s attack. McPhee intercepted the ball many times. The Yarras lost their lead in the third term and were down by a goal at three-quarter-time making for a very interesting final quarter. Chapman begged her girls to give it their all in the final quarter of their season. O’Brien, Theobald and McChrystal moved the ball around in the midcourt with crisp passing. Buerckner took some inspiration from Trevor Chappell when feeding the ball underarm along the ground into the shooters. Lee proved to be very valuable up forward putting it in the hoop many times. The Yarras went out with a bang; Final scores were 35 to 33 in a great win. The score line reflecting what an improvement the girls have made since early in their season when they were comprehensively beaten by 40 goals by the same side. Well done girls!
The Thirds Tower Hotel Report:
The Thirds played the undefeated Skye at the Den. At half-time the Yarras were down by 5 points and were in with a chance. Matheson was too strong up forward and he took some great grabs whilst booting 2 goals. Clohesy was in unfamiliar territory, playing in the forward line and managed to draw a free kick and slot one through. Evans was a stand-out for the Yarras, he was judged best a field and kicked a goal. Tyssen was aggressive at the ball and slotted one through. Milne increased his yearly goal kicking tally by one. Singh was speedy in the midfield. Hill was the Yarras fifteenth captain for the year and lived up to the task by playing very well. Rodriguez kept his opponent quiet. Myers played very well too but the boys went down, final scores were 40 to 106.
The Reserves Bendigo Bank Report:
The Yarras had the week off and rested their tired bodies.
The Seniors Brady Tiling Report:
The Seniors had a bye too, however, some favourable results see them just four points outside the top five with two games remaining in the home-and-away season. A couple of wins could see the team in the finals for the first time since 2010!
