CFC Results v Wycheproof Narraport 1/8/15. Firstly the Charlton FC would like to congratulate the Charlton Hockey Club on 50 years of Hockey in the NCFL. A great achievement and we hope everyone has enjoyed their reunion weekend. Saturday saw a successful day across three games of football for Charlton with the Under 13’s playing a great team game and breaking through for their second win of the year, defeating Wyche by a goal. The Navy Blue youngsters have a bright future ahead and they’re a credit to themselves, their coaches and families the way they give 100% each week so well done boys! The reserves also had a good win, causing an upset against the more fancied Wyche outfit. The Navies had an injection of youth with Nathaniel Holmes Brown, Jack Thompson and Griffen House all adding plenty of run and enthusiasm. Luke Mulquiny also hit the ground running on his way back to Senior footy with a solid hit out in the twos. The boys ran out five goal winners in their best win for the year. Joe Tormey was everywhere while Joe “rubber shoulder” Durie again gave his all alongside stalwarts Shane “The Pres” Fitzpatrick and Luke Zagame. The Seniors played out a thriller against Wyche but were able to hang on by 10 points at the final siren. The Navy Blue backline was again miserly in their defence, repelling plenty of Wyche attack. The low scoring affair was close all day. Joe Coatsworth threatened to break the game open for Wyche at stages but Aaron Walklate bettered him with a blistering second half of class and determination in equal measure. James Baird marked everything that came his way all day while the Mac attack of McKay and McLean had polished performances. Kris Clifford was our most potent forward on the day, kicking an invaluable four goals. The win puts Charlton into second spot currently with Birchip, Wyche and Donald nipping at our heels, but yesterday’s win provides the team with a solid platform to regroup after the bye and begin to launch the type of footy Charlton wants to play as we head towards the business end of the year. The Under 16’s got four points due to Wyche currently not fielding a side in this grade. SENIORS Charlton 8.12.60 d WNFC 7.8.50 Goals K. Clifford 4, S. O’Connor 1, R. Thiesz 1, D. McKay 1, B.
