On Sunday 2nd August the Dandenong Southern Stingrays host the Sandringham Dragons, with the support of our VFL aligned partners the Frankston Dolphins at Frankston Oval as a home game as a curtain raiser to the Senior VFL game. We thank Simon Green and Patrick Hill for their support off the field in making this happen, as well as making spots available each week so current Stingrays players gain further opportunity to test themselves at the higher level.
Last week we travelled to the “fortress” at Preston where the Northern Knights showed how close the TAC Cup competition really is by nearly causing a huge upset. Our players were challenged in trying conditions a few times, but settled in the last term to walk away with a very lucky win. We thank Peter Kennedy and his team for a great game and the hospitality shown with the after match.
In closing the Stingrays would also like to acknowledge and congratulate the 22 Under 18 Vic Country players who received an AFL draft combine invite, including our players: Kieran Collins, Thomas Glen, Thomas Jok, Kurt Mutimer, Gach Nyuon, Bailey Rice, Brandon White and Jacob Weitering.
Like all other Regions we believe some other players were unlucky, we challenge all players in the TAC Cup to keep playing strong consistent football and the result will take care of itself.
Good luck to all the TAC Cup regions for the remainder of the season and a special thank you to our VFL partner the Frankston Dolphins.
