The Fiona Winter Realty Noosa Tigers emerged 110 point victors over a pretty determined and resilient Aspley at Weyba Road last Saturday and whilst the Tigers victory never looked in doubt the lowly ranked Hornets were able to flood back and at times make the game scrappy, to their advantage of course.
Noosa controlled the footy throughout, however a tendency to over use the footy particularly when going forward cost them scoreboard pressure. A crowded forward particularly in the first half also didn't help the Tigers cause, particularly when coach James Gellie was looking like such a focal point. Gellie booted 5 goals for the day in a dominant display and was well supported by gun small forwards / onballers Davis who bagged three and Isles who bagged two.
Nick Hill provided plenty of drive once again from the midfield with Garry Wallace and new recruit Jarrod Watling a standout booting 3 majors in his first senior game for the club. In fact Garry Wallace's pace and poise was a pleasure to watch along with his precise foot skills unlike several of his teammates throughout the day. Big Cain Tickner again was in the best whilst I thought ruck man Zach McDonald continues to do everything asked of him.
Final score: Noosa 22.10.142 defeated Aspley 6.4.40
Noosa Goals: J.Gellie (5), S.Davis, J.Watling (3), C.Isles, Z.McDonald, S.Rogers (2), R.Copeland, N.Hill, J.Malthouse, R.O’Dwyer, A.Stewart, (1)
Noosa Best: G.Walace, N.Hill, S.Davis, C. Tickner, J.Watling, Z.McDonald
The Noosa Tigers Reserves also had a big win over Aspley with new dad Nathan Winter celebrating the birth of his daughter with a best on ground performance.
Final score: Noosa 18.12.120 defeated Aspley 2.1.13
Noosa Goauls: M.Paterson (4), S.Clift (3), M.Gray, Z.Smith, N.Winter, K.Wulf (2), A.Corrigan, L.Fary, T.Robilliard (1).
Noosa Best: N.Winter, M.Gray, S.Clift, Z.Smith, W.Wilson, T.Keehan, M.Deans.
All in all comprehensive victories for Noosa in front of many proud 1985 premiership heroes celebrating their 30 years reunion.
A massive away game for Noosa this Saturday down at Caloundra who sit in 4th place only 2 games behind the Tigers in 3rd. The Panthers upset Maroochydore only 3 weeks ago so important for the Tigers to be switched on from the start as they begin their assault on the 2015 flag.
Can't wait see you down there!!
Go Tigers
Cheers Pittsy
