Well, a typical Melbourne day greeted us for Sunday, lovely (ish) morning and by the afternoon rain coming in sideways, I guess that’s why we love this town so much…
Thanks to her Royal Highness we all get to sleep in this Sunday with no games scheduled in the juniors or Seniors this weekend and Auskick will also have a break on Saturday morning, a good chance for us all to recharge the batteries.
In terms of training, your coaches will let you know if you’re still training during the break or having the week off.
The weekend started with a bang as the Ladies took centre stage on Saturday at the senior’s home game. If the laughter coming from inside the clubrooms was any indication then all and sundry had a great day. Well done to the organisers on yet another fabulous club function.
Next up on the social calendar is the Matthew Keenan Breakfast on 13 June. $50 for a hot brekkie and a chat about the Tour De France, also if you’re up for it a bike ride around the streets…
Contact Gino Nardella on 0448 312 043 or Max Graziano on 0414 269 261. Bookings are essential for this one.
And on the same night back at the club rooms is Trivia night. More details to follow on this one.
On to Matters Football from the Weekend.
Firstly Congratulations to Connor Golledge who played his 100th game for the club in the under 15’s on the weekend, a great achievement. Well done, Connor. (If I miss any milestone games please let me know so I can make mention of them, thanks.)
At home on the top oval the under 9 Red side took on Northcote, while the White team went the
other way and headed to Northcote. The Blue’s made the short trip up to Thomastown.
These young boys and girls are really starting to play some good team football as the year goes along. Our future is in good hands.
The Under 10’s ventured out to Eltham for a spirited contest.
The 11’s were at home against Diamond Creek on the top oval and continue to fight hard in a tough division.
While the 12 Girls rounded out the day up top with yet another polished performance.
The main oval fired up at 11.30 with the 13 blue team taking on South Morang. This was a great contest and the boys are not far away in this tough division.
They were followed by the 15 boys, who after a sluggish start showcased their considerable talents as the game unfolded.
While the 16’s rounded out the proceedings at home, the weather had turned for the worst by start time, and in tough conditions the boys continued to do themselves proud, taking on a very good outfit from South Morang and fighting it out till the end.
On the road, Polly and the under 12 went to Diamond Creek, Pino and the 13 Red ventured to Greensborough, Max and the 14’s headed to Bundoora Park. Abbie and 15 girls ventured out to Epping for a hard fought contest. Check out the newsletter for all the details from our weekend games.
While we do get to have the weekend off, our Rep players will be in action over the long weekend. After impressive performances mid-week, the boys and girls are in action again over the long weekend.
If you want to get along and watch a game.
The 15’s are at Central Park Eltham on Saturday at 12.00 and Monday at JJ Holland Park, Kensington (M42 j3) at 12.
The 14’s are in action Saturday at Clyde Rec. Reserve Clyde (M135 A8) at 12 and Monday at Yarrambat at 12.
The 16s Girls are at Central Park Eltham on Saturday at 10 and Monday at Marriott Waters Reserve, Lyndhurst (M129 b7) at 10.
Good luck to all our Representing Roosters.
To the seniors.. We were at home on Saturday against Lower Plenty and recorded a comfortable victory. Goal Kicking practice will be a priority during the break I’m sure after posting 22 points on the weekend. The 52 point win could have been much more. The Reserves and 19’s also posted victories to round out a good day. Next up is Macleod away after the break.
That’s it. Enjoy the break.
Cheers
Sean.
