MAROOCHYDORE coach Brett Maloney believes his side's stunning upset of QFA North division juggernaut Mayne changes the Roos "as a football club".
The green machine snapped the Tigers' 25-game winning streak with a stirring 9.6 (60) to 6.15 (51) victory at Enoggera yesterday.
It was a breakthrough result for the competition and the Roos.
"It changes us as a football club. I've only been involved (at Fishermans Road) for three years but that would have to be the best win for a long time at the club," Maloney said.
"We've beaten sides around us and below us (on the ladder) for a while, but we beat a side (yesterday) which has been a really dominant force in this competition for 18 to 24 months.
"I think they (the Roos) will get enormous belief out of that.
"Our boys are battered and bruised but you have to be to beat the top side.
"They worked their tails off the whole day and put enormous pressure on the opposition."
The Roos trailed by 16 points at the main break before fighting back.
"The reason we beat Mayne was because we undid their game - we picked it apart and took away some of their strengths and we put pressure on them," Maloney said.
In a stirring performance, Roos fullback Nigel Baker kept the Tigers' star shooter, Luke Faulkner, goalless for the first time in 29 games.
"He was outstanding. He probably only had three or four kicks himself, but his opponent didn't have any impact or influence on the game whatsoever," Maloney said.
Michael Roberts and Daniel Dzufer were strong and Jack Gale fared well against Mayne captain-coach Shaun Daly.
James Page bagged four goals for the Roos and youngster Dan Ryan kicked two, including a composed and crucial one in the final term. Ruckman Greg Stirton battled well against two men who were 10cm taller.
In other games, Noosa beat Caloundra 11.13 (79) to 4.6 (30) and Moreton Bay beat Aspley 18.20 (128) to 9.4 (58).

In other games, Maroochydore's Colt's were dominant against Mayne in the morning clash however the reserves were handed a footballing lesson after half time to be belted by the reigning premiers.
The third grade squad lost their first game of the year, going down to a much-improved Gympie outfit.
