UNDER 12's and WOMENS TEAM GREAT WINs
The Jacana victory song was sung with gusto by the Under-12’s on Sunday after a decimating 10-point win over Craigieburn.
After overcoming a small lead in the third quarter, the Jaguars were able to dig deep and produce a further two goals and two behinds, earning themselves a score of 28 to beat the Eagles’ 18.
“The kids were absolutely rapt that they come from behind the way they did; they were ecstatic,” junior team manager Liz Currie said.
“It was fantastic seeing them and the parents so excited and happy about it, especially seeing the kids walking off singing the song.”
Liz believes that this win will “boost the team’s spirits” and hopefully lead to future wins.
The team is still looking for players to join the junior ranks, which will also hopefully boost the team.
In other news, the seniors’ division suffered a 52-point defeat at the hands of Coburg Districts, and the women’s side defeated Bacchus Marsh by 69 points.
“The team played with distinction and teamwork, especially over the first and second quarter,” club president Rick Lloyd said on the women’s side.
“The match went the way we hoped it would, and all the girls did as they were asked,” Coach Allan Bedford described.
"Katy Hunter, Samantha Matovski and Jessica Young were the best players, especially Katy with six goals."
