The Fiona Winter Realty Noosa Tigers are away to long time Suncoast rivals, Nambour at Palmwoods this Saturday. The Noosa boys were fairly battered and bruised after a gruelling 4 point win over Maroochydore on Anzac Day and thouroughly enjoyed their weekend off due to a competition bye. Whilst Nambour remain winless in 2015, the hinterland outfit are a much more competitive team at their Palmwoods headquarters and I know James Gellie and his charges will not be taking the foot off the pedal.
Injuries are a bit of a worry with the Tigers at present with topliners Davis and isles suffering leg injuries during the Anzac Day clash. Ex AFL star Brent Maloney also has a hamstring issue whilst young gun Jai Fitzpatrick has a shoulder issue. It will be interesting to see what the selection committee go with on Thursday night. Garry Wallace should return to the seniors following a week off whilst the depth of talent in the Noosa reserves is as good as it been in years.
In fact the Sammy Krushka coached ressies have hardly put a foot wrong. They are playing disciplined free flowing footy and I'm sure the likes of Fulton , Corrigan and stalwart Troy Duke will have their hands up for senior selection this week. As they say, there is no better practice than playing matches so the tigers will be focussing on the areas they are strong in and of course improving those facets of their game that will make them a more formidable competition threat.
Also very important is for those players in form prior to the bye to continue to dominate and work as hard as ever. Dual Brisbane Lions premiership player Robert `Bushy` Copeland has been the standout for the Tigers thus far with his efficient ball use and decision making out of defence whilst up forward Cain Tickner has 15 goals from 3 games. Isles and McKittrick as usual are finding plenty of the ball whilst new recruits Hill and brain are exciting the Tiger faithfull.
A long way to go in season 2015, for the Fiona Winter Realty Noosa Tigers, and plenty of ground to make up on defending champs Mayne starting with Nambour and Hinterland at Palmwoods Saturday.
See you at the footy - Pittsy
