Seniors...
What a ripper win for the boys last week against the 2014 Division Eagles. Big crowd, big event with the CFA Cup and a big result for the Club as a whole.Signs were looking ominous for the Redbacks by quarter time with visitors leading by 19 points then a serious 38 points at half time for the night game. The boys were really competitive in the first half but couldn't eliminate the little mistakes while trying to deal with the rapid ball movement of the slick Whittlesea outfit. At halftime, Teddy and Joff quietly merged through the group in the rooms with advice and encouragement. All were roused with Joffas final address before heading back onto the ground and into the third quarter. A crowd stirring 5 goal to 2 lift for the boys had the Whittlesea squad like "rabbits in headlights". Final quarter was one of the best we'd seen in a long time with the Hillers getting over the line with a magnificent 2 point win. Standout players were many but tall youngster Tommy Blake was unstoppable in the ruck and around the ground.
Reserves...
Disappointing result for Brassy and the boys after a strong and competitive first quarter, the slick Whittlesea Ressies controlled the game after the first break with 6 goals a quarter to our 1. Not good enough for this level of competition but what is encouraging is that we have good numbers pushing for a spot and a few senior players to return ... hopefully this will make the boys more determined to fight for that first win. Carson, AJ, Sherz, Brendo, Gunny and Barnes were named in the best but a standout for his effort and determination around the goals was Biddy ... and his first goal in Senior footy !!!
Under 19's...
Scoreline tells a different story to what our boys are about. First game of the season against a powerful Whittlesea 19's was always going to be a test but our boys remained vocal and part of it. With terrific numbers available for selection and the efforts of the the newest players to the squad, the first win of the season may be just around the corner. Well done to Liam Walsh, Michael Linton, Ben Brennan, Jackson Mill, Scott Thompson and Damon Ellis.
CFA Cup ...
The CFA Cup was once again played between the Panton Hill and St Andrews Primary schools on Saturday, with a 2.1.13 draw for the first time in history. Great supporters, great players, great event and great people of the CFA
