CFA CUP
The CFA Cup was once again played between the Panton Hill and St Andrews Primary schools on Saturday, with a 2.1.13 draw for the first time in history. The game was held earlier in the season than usual, and if nothing else, the parents enjoyed the much balmier conditions than that of the usual chilly conditions in late July . The earlier scheduling of the match is also a more timely reminder of the hard work and dedication of the local CFA Brigades following on from the Summer fire season. Thankfully the Summer just gone was a lot milder than expected and as a result the fire activity was certainly much less than in previous years. Nonetheless, the CFA are continually carrying out maintenance, clearing and back burning duties in a continual effort to keep our surrounding bush under reasonable control.
The day was a fantastic day for the Panton Hill and surrounding communities with many stating that it was the biggest crowd seen at the A.E. Cracknell Reserve for many years. The rain disappeared and the skies cleared for what was a most pleasant afternoon of football. The ground lights were switched on in the late afternoon as the sun set in the West and the crowd settled in for what was thrilling match resulting in a nail biting 2 point win by The Hillers over traditional rivals, and ex-Division one side, Whittlesea.
The Panton Hill Football Club continues to work closely with its fellow Community Volunteer organisations, including the Cricket and Netball clubs and we look forward to working closely with them all in the future.
All in all it was a great day for the Community and a great day for the Panton Hill Football Club.
The Community spirit is alive and well in Panton Hill!
Go Hillers !
