The Roos kicked off their season off with a 12 goal win over Nambour at the weekend. As is often expect in round 1 clashes, it was a scrappy affair that was made a little more difficult with some brief rain which made conditions slippery.
The first quarter was a bit of an arm wrestle howeevr the game opened up in the second and third quarters.
Josh Norman was a standout with a couple of big pack marks to excite the crowd while Paddy Stowe was senstational all day.
However the win was marred with a broken collorbone to Mitch Mallinder (Ice) and we wish hime a speedy recovery.
In other results, the Reserves piled on 21 goals to Nambour's one following an even first quart to run out big winners; while some innacurate goalkicking cost the Colts a first up win against University in Brisbane.

Maroochydore thumps rivals in scrappy affair
It might not have been pretty, but Maroochydore got the jump on their local rivals in Round One of the 2015 QFA North season, with a thumping 76-point win over Nambour and Hinterland.
Far from a sharp-shooting, slick performance, the Roos were forced to grind out the win against a stoic Nambour and Hinterland outfit, which despite what the scoreline suggested, battled hard for the full four terms.
Less than three goals separated the two sides after the first quarter, however the Roos, buoyed by the presence of former Brisbane Lions Daniel Dzufer, opened up an unassailable lead by half-time, the 42-point margin effectively ending the contest.
To the credit of the men in blue, they never gave up, and some intermittent showers turned much of the second half into a gritty affair, which suited the Nambour and Hinterland side, whose commitment in the final quarter was commendable. Maroochydore coach Brett Maloney agreed the match had not been one for the ages, lamenting his side's inaccuracy in front of goal but pleased to get the season off to a winning start.
"It was scrappy ... probably the second half more so," Maloney said.
"The drizzle didn't help conditions, it made it very greasy but we just didn't make the most of our opportunities I suppose.
"I think we kicked 7.14 in the second half, so we created the opportunities we just didn't make the most of them."
Roos' vice-captain Josh Norman was a standout, his aerial prowess including a massive hanger in the third term playing a huge role in Maroochydore's ability to restrict Nambour and Hinterland's chances to move out of their defensive zone.
Norman took a number of key contested marks and his careful selection of disposal ensured the Roos were always in control.
"His (Norman) direction around the park was good, his ball use was good," Maloney said.
"He led well; he led from the front today."
Dzufer was all class at Palmwoods yesterday, his distribution, decision-making and hands in the wet all first-rate, earning praise from his coach.
"He's a bloke who can play at both ends of the ground," Maloney said.
"He's been in the NEAFL a long time and he's played at the highest level possible.
"His skills are his strength, his use by foot is exceptional ... to have him there is fantastic."
The Roos' win was tempered with an injury to Mitch Mallinder, who suffered a broken collarbone during the clash, however Maloney was impressed by the work of a number of his younger, small men, including Patty Stow, who was outstanding yesterday.
Maloney said he expected Nambour and Hinterland to trouble a number of sides this year, impressed by their fighting qualities.
