WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK
The Working With Children Act 2005 (the Act) commenced in April 2006. The Working with Children (WWC) Check is one of several measures organisations put in place to protect children from sexual and physical harm.
The Act establishes a framework to screen the criminal records and the professional conduct of people who intend to work with or care for children. People who are assessed as posing an unjustifiable risk to the safety of children will fail the WWC Check and the Act prohibits these people from working with children.
The protection of children is the paramount consideration for any decision made under the Act.
The Bundoora JFC is bound by this legislation and the by-laws of the YJFL (Yarra Junior Football League). The2015 YJFL League By Laws states:
11. WORKING WITH CHILDREN REQUIREMENTS
11.1 No person may act in the capacity as a Club President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer or in the capacity as Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, Runner or Trainer unless that person has:
(a) Obtained a Working With Children check (WWC), or;
(b) Lodged an application for a Working With Children check (WWC);
(c) Sworn member of Victoria Police (who has not been suspended from duty) or a Teacher registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.

There is no cost for volunteers, except the requirement of a passport photo. Follow the online process and complete your application at an Australian Post outlet.
