Lara Reserves 1-1 Kyneton Reserves
Jake Kemerer’s first half penalty was cancelled out not long after by Kyneton, which brought an abrupt end to the scoring in what was a one sided game. Lara threatened the opposing goal for the entirety of the second half but were unable to find the back of the net for a second time, seeing the game finish with the spoils shared.
The first game of the 2015 season for the Reserves started very slowly with neither Kyneton or Lara really able to make any chances. It took Lara nearly 15 minutes to make their first attack, Nathan Maxwell’s chipped shot just going wide of the goal, but there was no turning back from there. Able to hold possession and create multiple chances, Lara were rewarded on half an hour as a penalty was awarded against Kyneton for a handball. Jake Kemerer stepped up and slotted the ball calmly to the left of the on looking goalkeeper. Lara continued to create numerous chances however were punished for a turnover in the midfield, as Jake Mongelli was the only defender back, allowing a rare 2 on 1 opportunity for Kyneton to be capitalized upon on 40 minutes.
The second half started as the majority of the first half was played, with Lara controlling the play and Kyneton struggling to create an attack, however more chances were being unconverted as the clock ticked on and the heat continued to rise. Kyneton rounded out the half with only one shot and Lara were left to rue their misses as a dominant performance finished unrewarded. Just a solitary point has Lara in 5th after Round 1, but a promising performance sending out an early warning to opposition that they’re ready to contest for back to back premierships.
