The Dandenong Southern Stingrays held their school testing day at St John’s Regional College for the Jimmy Toumpas Squad for the second year in a row on Monday 2nd March.
The fitness testing was conducted by Draftstar in the morning, then after lunch the participants completed some football skills and drills that were conducted by the Dandenong Southern Stingrays staff. A few boys had some amazing fitness testing results that would stack up against the best boys in the country. These results had AFL Multicultural Projects Officer David Rodan, very excited for the future of multicultural talent in the Dandenong Southern Stingrays region.
On the day there were four boys that ran under 3 seconds for the 20 metre sprint and the highest jump for the day was completed by 17 year old Arok Mading that measured 88cm.
Three boys from St John’s participated in the program last year and will be in the squad again for 2015. The boys from the 2014 squad will be able to give the new boys from St John’s Regional College some pointers and advice on what to expect for the upcoming program which starts on Wednesday 22nd April.
The Dandenong Southern Stingrays would like to thank Matt Jones and St John’s Regional College for making it such a fantastic day and for their continued support of the Dandenong Southern Stingrays program.
