Jamie Briody has been announced as the Avoca Bulldogs Senior Football Coach for the 2015 season.
Briody has joined the Bulldogs after a two year stint with Carngham-Linton from the Central Highlands FNL and is looking forward making a solid contribution at the Club.
“I’m really excited to be a part of the Avoca Football Netball Club and am looking forward to the upcoming season. I’ve been impressed with the professionalism of the Club and the Committee and I’m confident that we will have an impact this year.” Briody said.
With a youthful list, Briody’s previous experience in football development with AFL Queensland/Asia-Pacific will be a valuable asset as the Club focuses on giving its young locals every opportunity to excel.
“There are some really talented young players at Avoca, so I’m keen to share my knowledge and experience with them and help get the best out of them.” Briody added.
“We will also be working on recruiting some more senior experienced players to help fill key roles and provide more depth to the team.”
Incoming AFNC President, Sam Beavis is encouraged by Briody’s enthusiasm and professional approach to the role.
“We are very pleased to welcome Jamie to the Club and know that he will provide us with the leadership and experience we need to go to the next level. He has already presented us with some new ideas and plans he would like to implement which we are very excited about.” Beavis said
“Our Club has put in a lot of hard work over the past two years to develop a solid structure and put policies in place to improve our off field position and we now have a strong Committee that is providing real leadership in terms of running our Club.
We’re also really proud of the success of our netball and junior football departments and all that has been missing is strong leadership for our senior football department.”
The Club is also pleased to announce its other coaching appointments for all positions. Michael Drury will head up the Reserves football side again, as is Jesse Britton with the U17s, Scott Howell with the U14s and Paul Wardlaw with the U11.5 football team. Lucy Walkley will continue her role as senior netball coach, along with Sarah Neil coaching 17 and Under and Nicole Wardlaw coaching 15 and Under, while Jo Beavis & Natasha Howell will be coaching the 13 and Under netballers.
“There’s a great buzz around the Club at the moment and we have more volunteers than ever so things are looking really promising at the Kennel this year.” said Beavis.
“We’re asking everyone the same question this year ‘Does Your Heart Beat True?’ and our focus is on welcoming members both old and new into the Club for the 2015 season. The more support we have, the stronger our club will be.” Beavis added.
Training for the senior playing group will commence on Thursday 15th of January with a formal meet the Coaches day to be held at the start of February.
