Please join us in welcoming Geoff Rayner as our new Club Chaplain.
Over last season, the Eastern Football League worked in conjunction with Sports Chaplaincy Australia to give assistance to clubs that found themselves in a time of need. Naturally, all clubs hope this is never the case, but it pays to have someone on hand should anything ever occur.
Sports Chaplains like Geoff aren't there as professional counsellors, but to lend an ear and pastoral care to the club and its community. They are also trained in assisting people involved with the club, responding to their needs and perhaps pointing them in the right direction should appropriate care providers be needed.
Geoff is 52 and works in sales and account management for an electricity company. He has spent many years working in the non-profit sector, as well as running his own business. Geoff has two children - an 18-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son - and lives locally.
He attends Croydon Hills Baptist Church where he has long been involved.
You might have seen Geoff about the place - he currently plays Vets cricket for Mooroolbark, and also played club and representative football in New South Wales, and is thoroughly looking forward to becoming a part of the Mustangs.
"I enjoy sharing in the lives of others and believe that everyone needs someone to chat to about life's ups and downs from time to time," he said.
"I love helping others achieve their true potential.
"I am excited to be involved with the club and look forward to helping as needed."
