The Vermont Football Club announces that five of it’s most decorated players have decided to play together elsewhere in 2015. :- Ryan Mullett, Nathan Henley, Kris Bardon, Dean Millhouse and Simon Taylor.
We do acknowledge their incredible contribution during this past decade, including the four Premierships and many finals appearances. Although much saddened to see their departure all at once, it does give our Club a much needed opportunity to lower the age of our Senior team and to provide opportunities for more of our very well performed youngsters. A necessity going forward.
We sincerely thank all of these players for their outstanding contributions to the Vermont Football Club both on and off the field and wish them well.
We hope that in years to come they will again be involved at Vermont in some capacity.
These players wanted to make the following statement in regard to their departure :-
“ We would sincerely like to thank the Vermont football community for supporting us over the past decade. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to play at this wonderful club. The club has had a profound impact on us collectively & we are extremely proud of our association with the VFC. We hope in return we were able to have a positive impact.
For most of us, the best years of our footy life were at Vermont and we have established many lifelong friendships, have experienced many highs and lows and been lucky enough to be involved in premierships. These are the fondest memories that we have, winning our first senior premiership here together will be something we will have with us forever.
This decision has not been easy and certainly not made lightly, but we felt the timing was right to step aside and finish the twilight of our careers together at a lower grade of football.
There are so many wonderful people at this football club, and we’re mindful to single too many individuals out, but a special thank you goes to Lee Bidstrup, he has showed wonderful friendship and support to us over our careers and to him we are truly thankful. To our great mate, Jack Murphy for his honest appraisals and unwavering support. The volunteers, the hard working committee and all the coaches, in particular our premiership coach David Banfield who’s motivational speeches were second to none. And finally to the loyal supporters that turn up in the depths of winter to support the purple and gold, thank you.
We wish all the success to the current playing group and coaching staff in 2015 & would like to remain familiar faces over many years at Terrara Rd.
Thank you
Ryan, Dean, Nathan, Simon & Kris.
