Well its that time of year where the finals are coming thick & fast. With this in mind what a weekend we have.
Home Semi-Finals this Saturday This Saturday 30/08/14 will be the last home games of the year. The first home semi final will be our undefeated reserves taking on Robina at 11.30am. This will be followed by our seniors taking on Burleigh @ 2pm. Can both squads win and go into the Grand Final?
Put on you colors, bring the family & come find out. Lets all get down to Puma Park (Lowe Oval) & cheer on our teams!!! Its $5 entry at the gate but children U16 are free!
(Pictured above - Former Puma Junior & now Puma Senior Pin-up Boy Josh Menz is in outstanding form of late)
Then this Sunday its the U18s turn. They play against Maroochydore @ O'Callaghan Park, Zillmere Rd, Zillmere....12pm. It would be great if all put in an effort & convoy over to cheer on these boys.
Pumas Star @ League Awards What a night it was. Pumas had plenty of nominations & consequently some outstanding winners.
Highlights:
*U12- Harrison Buckley led early & eventually came 3rd in the B & F count. Well done mate!
*U14- Ryan Birnie lead the B & F early but was just pipped at the post by his team mate Mitchell Fitzpatrick. Both boys were delighted for one another & considering these boys are only 13 playing in an U14 comp the 1-2 finish was outstanding.
*U18- Cal Eddy came a close runner up in the B & F & also took out the leagues leading goal kicker award.
*Reserves- Will Sutton took out the league B & F award. An outstanding effort considering he played 6 senior games as well this year. Will has been at the club since he was 5 years old & has won multiple player, premiership, clubman & junior coaching awards. The league B & F could not have gone to a more deserving player.
*Reserves - Straight shooter Daniel Bridge took out the leagues highest goal kicking award.
*Seniors- Former Brisbane Lion & now current Puma gun player Albert Proud came runner up in the league B & F.
Pumas Graham Murrihy is Honored by the League At the same awards night the league paid honor to someone all Pumas know is already a legend. Club life member
Graham Murrihy was awarded the
"Outstanding Long Service to the Game Award". This is definitely one of the highest honors anyone can receive in Qld Football.
Without a doubt this man has
earnt this award.
"No one has ever deserved to be recognized as much as Graham. One of a few blokes that has kept our club alive. Congratulations Graham, well deserved!!!! We thank you for everything you & your family do and have done for the Pumas" - Picture below is Coach Graham & Son in the Puma 1990 U8s. Canteen helpers needed for this Saturday As mentioned Its the last round of home finals this Saturday & we need some volunteers to help in the canteen for one last time. The game times are between 10.45 to 1.45 & 1.45 to 4.45pm
If you can spare anytime at either time slot short or long to help it would appreciated. Just email Leanne & let her know what suits...

Good effort by Puma Youth teams Sadly the season ended for all of our youth teams last weekend. The teams put on great show in very competitive & close matches in muddy/wet conditions last weekend. There was no disappointment in the effort shown by all. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger & with this being the first final campaign ever for most players it would have been a great learning experience. The club is very proud of all & would love to see all back next year to hopefully take one step further & create another record breaking year. A former Puma coach sent the following video link which summarizes the situation well.
