SENIORS
Despite a bit of rain about the conditions were very good for football for the local clash between Hurstbridge and Panton Hill with a lot at stake as relegation looms. The Bridges started the better side but didn't make the most of their chances and ended the first term with 1 goal 5 points but a handy lead at quarter time anyway. The Hills hit back in a very tight second quarter which left the margin at just 1 point at the main break. However, it was the championship third quarter where the Hills made their move, kicking the ball strongly through the middle and sneaking through the right handballs at the right time to put an additional 7 goals on the board. The 4 goal three quarter time margin eventually became a comfortable 34 points as the away side put themselves a game and percentage clear of Hurstbridge in the relegation battle and moved up to 5th spot on the ladder. With 4 senior players missing due to other commitments and Will Box out injured it took premiership veterans Joffa Byron and Zac Williams to come back for their first game of the year to help steady the side. Their experience lifted the entire team as an all round performance ensured the vital win. Jarrod McGough was in premiership form with 4 goals from the wing whilst the midfield including Tyler Scarce, Simon Amoreand support from a determined Tim Duckworth were superb. Finally, the backline repelled the ball time and again with Scott Moran and Travis Miller maintaining their recent good form.
RESERVES
Hurstbridge pushed out to an early lead in the first half, but the Hills responded in the third term to bring themselves back within 2 points at three quarter time. In a hectic last quarter a determined Panton Hill could have won the game with a couple of late shots at goal, but fell short again despite a great effort. Daniel Pratt was terrific with 4 goals and a best on ground perfromance along with Ryan Graham in support up forward and Andrew Jackson in the ruck. Around the ground it was Luke Morse and Matt Layt doing all the work and Glenn Barnes was the best of the backmen.
UNDER 19's
A disappointing result against a very slick team as the Hills were on the receiving end of their biggest loss of the season. Best on ground for the Redbacks was Daniel Freeman once again with support from Josh Dowling, Liam Harvey, Jackson Mill, Liam Eldridge and Mark Kenney rounding out the top six players.
