A beautiful sunny day last Saturday as we welcomed the Lakes Entrance football and netball club to the cattery. The highlights on a difficult day were wins for the seniors in football and A grade and C reserve in netball.
The seniors had to dig deep to beat a determined opponent. With two players injured before half time and then another going off in the third quarter the remaining guys showed great resolve to record a memorable 29 point win. Special praise to Rohan Blandford for his best on ground performance. Well done Pup. Congratulations also to senior captain Mark Baylis on 150 senior club games and Tim Saik for 50 senior club games.
Our A grade netball continued their recent great form to defeat Lakes by 16 goals and consolidate second position on the ladder. The double chance is now within their sights. Best on court was Captain Bronnie Evans. C reserve girls also had a good win holding off a determined Lakes outfit by 6 goals. In an even playing group Zoe Smith was awarded best.
The LFNC bag winner for the week was under 16 player Liam Whitbourne. Well done Whitters.
Saturday night saw the club hold our annual reverse draw and what a great night was had by all. Congratulations to winners Rohan Boucher ($1500), Olivia Harrison ($500) and Paul Hadden ($250). A big thank-you to all the volunteers and players that helped out with the draw, meal, dishes and cleaning up duties. A night like this certainly brings everyone involved in the club together and it was fantastic to see.
On the social side please keep August 23rd free as we are holding the Annual ball at the Bairnsdale Sporting and Convention Centre. Theme for this year’s event is the 1920’s Gangsters. So dress up in your finery and let’s dance the night away.
Today we travel to Wy Yung for nine competitive games. I am sure they will be out for revenge after our last outing when recruit Fev managed 15 goals. After the games let’s enjoy a drink with our opposition before heading to the Bairnsdale Sporting and Convention Centre for our awards whilst enjoying a meal.
Good luck to all Players.
Go Catters.
