The Round 13 AFL Sydney Rising Star nominee is Jimmy McKenzie from North Shore.
James is a graduate of St Ignatius and was 4th in Kealy Medal 2013 with Riverview, before joining a number of his ex-Riverview team mates at North Shore for the start of the 2014 season.
It was initially expected that Jimmy would play a mix of under 19’s and Premier division in 2014, but his pre-season form was good enough for him to selected in the Premier division side for round and his form since then has been so good that he has remained in it.
Coach Jon Hayres says "Jimmy is a fantastic young man who works extremely hard on his game and listens well to the advice that he gets from senior players. It’s well known that the club has had a difficult run with injuries and the absence of senior players can make it difficult for the younger players learning to adapt to senior football, but Jimmy has turned this situation around has taken on that responsibility himself. He’s been in terrific form over the past six weeks and thoroughly deserves a his Rising Star nomination for another outstanding effort on the weekend."
Jimmy is a skilful, hard running midfielder who is sure to have a bright future at North Shore.
