To all EFL Clubs
Dear Presidents and Secretaries,
I wish to advise all clubs of an instruction we have issued to all field umpires, Seniors and Juniors, with regard to breaks in between quarters of all matches.
All field umpires have been instructed not to visit rooms prior to the commencement of the game and at half time to advise clubs they are entering the arena. The warning sirens that are blown should be plenty of warning that the umpires are entering the arena.
The same applies for the quarter time and three quarter time breaks where a warning siren should be blown to indicate how much time has elapsed and that teams should be concluding their addresses.
The umpires will whistle teams once at quarter and three quarter time once the warning siren has sounded and will then will wait to commence the next quarter when both teams are in position and ready to commence.
Those teams that are not ready to commence when the time allowance has elapsed, will be duly noted on the match report and forwarded to the EFL.
Kind Regards,
Darren Goldspink
EFL Head of Umpiring
