Our Knights U11 boys & U13 girls teams played Mosman Swans over the Queens Birthday weekend and everyone involved had a fantastic day. It has kept the Two Cities Challenge alive and well and anyone who has been to one of these games can only rave about the great positive feeling between the teams & families. Our U10's will venture up to Sydney in August, so more information will follow if you are keen for that trip
Below is a note from Mosman that was sent through:
What a fantastic weekend of footy in Melbourne! It was inspirational to see a group of girls so passionate about their sport that they are willing to take on the Victorians on their home turf. It is admirable that Mosman Swans, a club in an emerging AFL state, could field a team of youth girls keen to travel to VIC and take on the Melbourne team at the top of the ladder. It was a particularly tough introduction to VIC footy for our younger girls, to play against a strong side from the largest junior AFL club in the country. They took the big bumps in their stride and didn't falter when making the big tackles. I couldn't be prouder of them. We all benefitted greatly from the encounter and will come back stronger and wiser next year, so we can hopefully host EMK in Sydney.
Many Thanks from Mosman Swans to
Richard Amon - for coordinating the EMK youth girls and coaching a fabulous team
Fraser McVean, Tony Phillips & Heidi Sutherland - for making us feel welcome at your club
The Knights girls & boys - thanks for showing us your extraordinary skills and playing with wonderful spirit.
