Fox footy came to Princes park last night where 40 Haileybury Footballers & 30 U19s players came together for training lead by Dermot Brereton, Barry Hall and Cam Moonie. The cameras were rolling and the result will be shown on Fox Footy either this Thursday (17th) or the following Thursday. Then some entertaining words from Dermie and the boys and parents were guests of Old Haileybury Football Club. Haileybury assistant coach Matthew Lloyd was also present along with Stewart Loewe and club president and 350 game record holder Mark Seccull. Not a bad line up of champion key position players in one spot.
The Haileybury footballers arrived on mass in a bus from Keysborough. Lappa was ther early and set up the ground. The U19s arrived independently and joined the Haileybury Footballers on the main oval at Princes Park. Dermie, Barry and Cam arrived with a team of production men from Fox Footy. Pat O'Leary, coach of the Under 19s was working with Lappa in a few warm up drills. Some of the parents were in attendance - interested in the proceedings and ready to take on taxi duties when all was finished.
Once the warm ups were completed the combined groups were given a few tips and run through quite a few drills by Dermie. One of the most interesting was the teams of 3 trying to get past a defensive wall of Barry Hall and Cam Moodie armed with padded shields. Most experienced at least one full blooded collision with a padded shield.
A few more tips, a look around the facilities and into the club function room for a few words and stories from Dermie before dinner was served. The parents were able to check out our sponsors products - Boags and Stella.
All finished by 715 and home to complete the homework assignments before tomorrows deadline. For the Haileybury boys a great introduction to Old Haileybury Amateur Football Club, for the Under 19s a great experience as well.
Thank you to our sponsors - Fox Footy and Boags.
