On Saturaday At Harrup Park the Gary Downes lead Mackay Crows took on the Townsville Eagles and the Capracornia Blues in a Round Robin format. The Mackay City Hawks were very well represented with 8 players and 1 coach being selected. 1st game saw the Crows go down to the Eagles 4.3 27 to 8.4 52. In the 2nd game the Crows were victors by 31 points 9.5 59 to 4.4 28. Townsville were overall winners with the Eagles also accounting for the Capracornia team 7.3 45 to 5.4 34.
All the Hawk boys performed well with Jason Garrett on a wing winning the Mackay Crow Player of the Carnival medal. James Jacobson presented well at CHF, Josh Donovan had a great carnival playing across Half Forward, Hawk Captain Aaron Wade played very well through the midfield in both games while late inclusion Shaun Bates was consistant on the HFF also. Anthony Kilmartin swapped with team-mate Bryce Kachel through the ruck with both performing very well while Desy Hayes was at his dynamic best across Half Forward and through the Middle.
In the North Qld vs South Qld Rep game down in Brisbane Mackay City Hawk Brad Smith played a teriffic game in the backline kicking out and setting up many attacks for North Qld team who were winners by 6 points 89 to 83.
Congratulations to all players and coaches involoved from the Hawks, to have 9 players and a coach selected was a great effort by all.
