Div 1 Vs Pennant Hills
The Warriors hosted the Demons in what a contest for second spot to and move to a 7-1 recording leading into the long weekend bye. The Warriors went into the game with 3 changes from the team that defeated the Goannas the previous week and started the afternoon in a positive manner. The Warriors started with the 2 goals before the Demons finished with the last 2 to into the first change with scores level. However the point of concern was the serious ankle injury to Moon and Nick Rodgers which meant the backline had to be restructured and the rotations switched up. Early in the 2nd quarter the Warriors where reduced to 1 on the pine after Frenchy went down followed by a yellow card to another. The Warriors struggled to get the ball inside 50 during the 2nd term but only conceded the one major and toughed it out until the main break to trail by 8. The Demons got the jump in the 3rd and managed to kick away taking a 3 goal advantage into the final change this was largely due to Warriors ability to keep the ball in offensive 50. The final quarter the Warriors where asked to kick the first 2 goals and then see what would happen. The Warriors stuck at the task and got within touching distance but the third goal for the quarter proved a kick to far and in the end went down by 11 points in what was a gutsy and determined effort and something the team can draw upon at the end of season in the clutch moments event though the result wasn’t the one we were after.

U19s Vs Penrith Rams
After the horrific weekend previous it was a win required to stay in touch for the season and the 19s delivered.
It was clear before the first bounce that the team was ready to play and after a 13 point loss previously to Penrith the boys wanted some revenge. From the first to the last siren the Warriors delivered with hard at it intensity, could communication and a solid display of a dominant game plan. Penrith weren’t allowed to get a run on and even though the Warriors suffered three game ending injuries they were able to run the game out. Not much more to say, a very happy coaching staff and a team that now believes they can compete with the top half of the ladder in September.
Highlights:
- Josh Cooper’s first “bag”, 6 goals and still not in the best! (everyone knows that if the key forward kicks a bag it’s everyone else’s good work)
- Big displays from co-captains Tim Cordner and Henry St Hill
- Josh Le Lay, hard at it all day, fantastic from half back and on the ball
- The Fresh Prince, Luke Nelson improved once again and is starting to really cause opposition teams a headache across the half forward line
- Big Mac, Ryan Ludowyke’s return to form
Lowlights:
- letting in a couple of late goals
- injuries to key players
Best Players:

Womens Vs Newtown Breakaways
The Women Warriors completed their first ever win over the Newtown Breakaways with an impressive 66-26 victory at University Oval on Saturday.
After conceding an early goal the Warriors piled on some great defensive pressure to keep the ball locked in their forward fifty for the majority of the first half. Early goals to Jessie Wong, Amanda Farrugia and Bec Beeson put Mac Uni ahead and they were able to maintain that lead throughout the match. The defense, led by Kristy Sutcliffe, Belinda Muldoon and Salome Cerda-Vargas, were able to repel any opposition attacks and the midfielders were physical and hard-working all day. Laila Waisu was once again the best on ground, with Liz Fassone, Amanda Farrugia and Aislinn Albury winning plenty of footy and giving the forwards some great opportunities.
The second half highlights included cracking individual goals to Tash Nair and Belinda Muldoon, while Sam Martin excelled in her new defensive role. Bec Beeson once again took some solid marks and Sarah Botros had her best game for the year with an enormous effort on the wing. Vanessa Poon also took two fantastic contested marks up forward.
Saturday was the girls’ best four-quarter effort this season and the results certainly showed with their biggest win in Division One so far. The Warriors now move to 3rd spot on the ladder heading into the long weekend, with a crucial fixture against Balmain in Round 7.
Highlights:
- The two individual goals by Tash Nair and Belinda Muldoon were exceptional. ‘Romo’ took two bounces and split the middle on the run, while ‘Binny’ had a rare venture up forward, slotting one from a tight angle with the outside of her left boot. Both were team-lifting, crowd-pleasing efforts!
- The continued improvement of our new & developing players. Keelin Murphy, Tess Malcolm and Brooke Ashcroft are growing in confidence and relishing their gradually increasing game time. Anne Sedgley continues to improve each & every week and Vanessa Poon is showing tremendous skill and pace around the forward line.
- Kristy Sutcliffe’s effort to play on with (another) broken finger, all whilst marking up on one of the premier forwards in the competition was another big tick in her growing footy resume. A very tough and skilful footballer!
