The best talent the QAFL has to offer is readying itself to face the Victorian Amateur Football Association team on June 8.
The QAFL v VAFA match will headline a state triple header to be played at the Moreton bay Regional Sports Complex – Burpengary.
Thirty-five players were named in the initial squad, which will be cut to 25 ahead of the main game.
Labrador coach,. Steve Daniel, will take the reins of the QAFL side, with Beau Zorko (Surfers Paradise), Matt Trewhella (Wilston Grange) and Daryn Cresswell (Palm Beach) his assistants.
Daniel said the QAFL team was prepared for the challenge of the VAFA side.
“The VAFA hold the title of the best community football league in Melbourne, if not the country,” said Daniel.
“They will have a group of supremely talented footballers - many of whom have tested themselves at AFL and VFL level - and they won’t be putting their hands up to come to Brisbane to play an exhibition match.”
There’ll be plenty of representative football action all day, with a North Queensland v South Queensland match kicking things off.
That match will see players from across the state face off, with North Queensland featuring players from Cairns, Capricornia, Mackay, Mount Isa and Townsville and the Southerners comprised of QFA, QAFA, Darling Downs and Wide Bay representatives.
Closing the day will be a women’s All-Star match, putting the spotlight on 44 of the state’s top female players.
This match, which doubles as the final opportunity for state selection, will feature some of the state’s 2014 women’s draftees as well as Queensland’s top female talents.
Entry to the event is free for everyone, for more information head to http://aflq.com.au
