Div 1 Match Report VS UNSW/ES Bulldogs
"It was a great day for football" the Warriors were treated to a sunny afternoon for their home, curtain raiser clash with the Bulldogs. The message before the game was to get to the ball first, win it inside then play a run and gun style of football to exploit the Bulldogs on the big deck at University Oval. Over the opening 2 quarters the Warriors played their 2 best quarters for the season. The Warriors kept the Bulldogs scoreless in the first term kicking 4.3 themselves and before the long break added another 4 majors to the tally and keeping the Bulldogs to 1.2. To take 56-8 advantage into the break. The half time message was to replicate the first two terms, win the hard ball inside then put it to the advantage of our outside players. The third term the work rate was there winning more football but the execution dropped and the team first game style fell away. The final term we became a little sloppy with a few skill errors creeping in with fatigue due to a 2 man bench to play the final quarter with. Overall it was 4 points banked and 3 wins on the bounce with plenty of positives to take into next week.

U19s Match Report VS UNSW/ES Bulldogs
After a disappointing loss to penrith and then a bye the boys had been working hard for two weeks self focused on this game. The warriors came out of the blocks hard and had set up a fantastic lead at half time. Apart from a lapse in the third the boys put together a good four quarters and ran out comfortable winners.
Highlights
The hardness and first to the footy attitude that showed all day. Josh coopers dominance up forward along with his big buddies Ryan Ludowyke and Carlton Hollsten. And the overall team commitment.
Onto the next challenge!

Womens Match Report VS UNSW/ES Stingrays
The Women Warriors’ winning run came to an end on Saturday, defeated by competition heavyweights UNSW at University Oval.
Unfortunately, the Warriors were slow to get out of the blocks and were six goals down after just fifteen minutes. Two late goals in the first term to Amanda Farrugia and Stacey O’Loughlin breathed some life into the contest, but another slow start in the second term put the game out of reach. However, the outstanding efforts of Belinda Muldoon at full back slowed the Stingray’s momentum heading into half time and there was also some great attack on the ball by Barbara Lynch and Hana Said.
A much improved second half effort from the girls saw great goals to Jessie Wong and Laila Waisu, and there were some impressive defensive displays from Steff Lee, Lisa Roper and Salome Cerda-Vargas. The midfield began to win some clearances in the 3rd term with the help of Aislinn Albury (who was brilliant in the ruck all day) and on-ballers Amanda Farrugia and Liz Fassone. Jessie Wong presented well up forward and Vanessa Poon showed plenty of pace around the packs.
The girls will learn some valuable lessons from a very disciplined UNSW outfit and will take this experience with them into another huge clash with defending Div 1 premiers Sydney Uni next Saturday. A very big thank you must go to all of our helpers on what was a very busy day down at University Oval!
Highlights
- Play of the Day: Laila Waisu’s goal was a suitable reward for fantastic effort! Playing in the unfamiliar role of half forward, Milo created space and led hard on multiple occasions, before taking a great grab and slotting home a goal from 25 metres out.
- The ever-reliable Steff Lee was once again solid in her defensive post. She has been among the best players for three out of our four games this season and plays hard, disciplined football for all four quarters every week.
- Aislinn Albury and Amanda Farrugia formed a great partnership in the middle of the ground despite the quality of the opposition and the high pressure throughout the game. Their ability to read the footy, create space and use the ball well were factors in the improved second half effort.
