Mount Compass no match for McLaren
A DEPLETED Mount Compass has slid to its third-straight loss for the season, out-muscled by McLaren at McLaren Vale Oval last Saturday.
The Bulldogs were down at every change before losing by 59 points, 20.8 (128) to 10.9 (69).
Forced to play with one man on the bench after half-time after losing Dylan Bolton (concussion) and Sean Tasker (wedding) the visitors could not keep up with a hard-running Eagles.
Mark Fenoughty bagged four goals for home side while gun recruit Craig Parry chipped in with three goals when he floated forward from the ruck.
Tom Pinyon, Ben Mundy and Jo Parsons each kicked two goals for the Bulldogs.
Ruckman Peter Hoban battled hard for the Bulldogs and was best on ground despite the visitors comprehensively beaten in the midfield.
Adam Hunter and Nick Brokenshire also worked tirelessly for the Bulldogs but they had too few teammates who contributed.
Meantime, Daniel Butcher booted eight goals as Willunga crunched Yankalilla in its Great Southern Football League home match on Saturday.
The Demons prevailed 19.17 (131) to 11.7 (73) to move to fourth on the ladder with a 2-1 record.
Willunga set up the win with a 10-goal second quarter. Butcher, Wesley Glass, Sam Alexopoulos and Marcus Burdett were best for the Demons. McLaren thumped Mount Compass 20.8 (128) to 10.9 (69) at home on Saturday to remain unbeaten.
