Div1 Match Report VS UTS Bats
Playing UTS Bats, who will most likely be a top 2 team provided a good test to the Warriors and bench mark for the season. Kicking the first goal soon after the siren, a long bomber from outside the arc the game started according to plan. Bu then conceding the next 5 goals straight meant the Warriors went in quarter time chasing the game. The message at quarter time was to get first to ball and be proactive after a sluggish 15 min period. With the challenge to lift for the remaining 3 quarters the Warriors responded and to their credit only conceded another 3 goals for the remaining 3 quarters including a goalless final term. The Warriors raised their inside pressure and attack on the ball, unfortunately we weren’t able to capitalise on the inside 50 entries with a scoreboard return. With 3 winnable games over the next 3 weeks the challenge will be to maintain the attack on the ball but gaining a scoreboard return for the efforts.
Highlights
- Bomber (Ryan Harris) BOG in his debut for the Warriors.
- The consistent effort the backline all day.
- The teams collective response to play out 3 competitive quarters after being caught behind early on.
Best Players
Bomber, Spoons (Logan Mead), Woody (Sam Wood), Moon (Jimmy Moylan), Frenchy (Pete Le Breton), Guns (Gav Nixon)
Final Score: Warriors 3.6 (24) Bats 8.9 (57)

U19s Match Report VS Western Suburbs Magpies
After a superb start to the season the young warriors were looking to prove their wares against the wests magpies. Expected to be the team to beat it was always going to be a hard fought win to come by. Unfortunately, the endeavour present in round 1 against power was missing for the first half of the game and wests set up a convincing win in the mud. Although a disappointing display from the 19s the positives grew as they game progressed with the warriors finishing the stronger team. Stand out performers were Lewis Criniti and Tim Cordner who led the way with tireless running and hard at it contesting all day. It was great to see Felix Dixon show what he can bring this year as his fitness improves and the always hard at it josh Kimpton was ferocious around he ball all day.
A loss that hopefully hurts and shows he boys where they need to get to in order to contest for a premiership this year.

Womens Match Report VS Newtown Breakaways
Mac Uni kicked off their debut season in the Sydney Women’s AFL top flight with a hard-fought loss to the Newtown Breakaways. Despite being hampered by a difficult preparation and injuries to key players, the Warriors started well and dominated possession throughout the first quarter, but were unable to convert these opportunities on the scoreboard. An increasingly gusty wind favouring one end made it tough for the Warriors in the 2nd term as they struggled to push the footy into their forward fifty and went into halftime six goals down. However, a much more free-flowing & spirited performance in the 3rd quarter saw great goals to Aislinn Albury, Bec Beeson (2 goals) & Jessie Wong (2 goals) and suddenly the margin was back to 7 points at the last break. Unfortunately, kicking back into a strong wind during the last quarter with tired legs, the Warrior Women couldn’t bring it home. There were some very encouraging individual performances by Jessie Wong, Jess Willemse, Steff Lee, Bec Beeson and Belinda Muldoon. However the best on ground for the Warriors was definitely Laila Waisu - whose physical presence in the midfield helped keep the girls in the game all day.
Final Score: Warriors 5.4 (34) Breakaways 9.7 (61)
A big thank you must go to our many helpers as the game was effectively a “home” game for Mac Uni out at Blacktown. Many thanks to Matty Lawrence for umpiring; our physio Wes; Lisa Pethybridge & Leah Woldhuis for running water; Brooke Ashcroft & Annie Sedgley for boundary umpiring; Jessica Bond goal umpiring; and Amanda Farrugia as the ground manager. A huge effort!
Play of the day: Jess Willemse winning a 1-on-3 battle on the wing in the 2nd quarter! Great dive, great desperation!
Goal of the day: Bec Beeson slotting the opening goal from 35m out, on the boundary, wrong side for a right footer. Used the wind beautifully!
