It was a weekend of mixed results for the Red and Black, with three of the five competing Bombers sides getting the premiership points.
The Under 12 Bombers kicked off the weekend with an impressive 33-point victory at Rockville Oval. Young gun Lauchlan Voss booted three down forward with midfielders Owen Debney, Cody Iacono and hard running Rowan Brady all getting plenty of the footy.
Keeping Highfields scoreless in the first half was the key to the Red and Black and set up the victory before half-time.
Final Score: South Toowoomba 7.11 (53) def. Highfields 3.2 (20)
For our Under 14's it was a second quarter blitz by the Lions that put the Bombers on the back foot and they were unable to recover. Highfields kept our 14's to three behinds for the term but unfortunately Highfields gained momentum and were hard to stop.
Tyler Gilmore and Cameron Lumsden were the two impressive Bombers in the 36-point loss. We currently sit sixth on the McDonald's Shield ladder.
Final Score: South Toowoomba 3.4 (22) def. by Highfields 9.4 (58)
It was a similar story for our young men in the Under 16 McDonald's Cup encounter with Highfields. The Lions outclassed the Red and Black by 68-points at Rockville Oval. Our Under 16 boys currently sit in fourth on the ladder going into the Easter break.
Final Score: South Toowoomba 6.7 (43) def. by Highfields 16.15 (111)
A RED-hot opening quarter set the scene for our Division 1 side in their 20.9 (129) to 6.6 (42) win over Highfields in Allied Pickfords Cup action at Rockville Park.
The Bombers got off to a flier as we outscored the Lions 9.2 (56) to 0.1 (1) in the first quarter. Highfields lifted in the second term, restricting Souths to just four behinds while kicking three goals.
But the damage had already been done as the Bombers charged on in the second half to claim a comfortable victory. We currently sit fourth on the Allied Pickfords Cup ladder.
Final Score: South Toowoomba 20.9 (129) def. Highfields 6.6 (42)
The Division 2 men also recorded a strong victory in their clash with Highfields, running out 52-point victory in the twilight fixture. This win sees our Division 2 Bombers sit tied on top of the AFLDD Div 2 ladder.
Big thank you to the 6 division 1 players to back up in a week that included quite a few players unable to play due to work, family and other commitments.
Final Score: South Toowoomba 14.8 (92) def. Highfields 5.10 (40)
Our Women's side enjoyed the weekend off with a bye in the AFLDD Women's competition.
