The Fiona Winter Realty Noosa Tigers travelled to Caboolture for the Round 3 clash. The ground and faculties at Caboolture were fantastic and conditions were perfect for footy.
Noosa made a couple of changes for the game. Dave Welch and Morgan Webb were both out and Sam Dwyer was back from injury and 17 year old Jesse Malthouse made his senior debut.
A sluggish start to the game saw Caboolture control the game and have the ball in their half for the first ten minute but they were unable to capitalise. Noosa then clicked into gear and opened their account with a strong Nick Sutton mark and goal. Alex Corrigan was next to score as Noosa wrestled the control back in their favour. Jai Fitzpatrick continued his good form with a solid first quarter, Nathan Winter was getting on top in the middle and Harry Opie was solid down back. Noosa kicked 5 goals to 1 to go into the first break with a handy 24 point lead. Noosa 5-3-33 to Caboolture 1-3-9
In a scrappy second term, the ball spent plenty of time in the midfield. Dylan Dempsey was finding plenty of the ball and Peter Trompf got moved into the midfield and got things going for Noosa. Brett Duke spent time in the ruck again this week and gave the Noosa on ballers first use. Nick Sutton was causing problems for the Caboolture defenders and he slotted home his 3rd. Noosa was in control of the game but in an unconvincing way. Noosa kicked 4 goals to 2 during the 2nd quarter, as they played the second half of the term with 17 men. Jack Tickner was red carded to reduce the Tigers to 17. At half time Noosa led by 36 points. Noosa 9-6-60 to Caboolture 3-6-24.
The half time break saw, or should I say heard, Coach James Gellie give the team an old fashioned bake. This seemed to work as the Tigers cam out to boot 10 goals to 1 in the third term. Tom McKittrick was great through the midfield, Isacc Hughson created plenty of space in the forward line and Jed Mullen looked good at full forward. First gamer Jesse Malthouse created plenty of run off a wing and looked right at home at the senior level. Dylan Murray was put into the ruck and gave Noosa plenty of drive. At 3/4 time Noosa led by 91 points.Noosa 19-9-123 to Caboolture 4-8-32.
The last term really just played itself out as Noosa added 2 goals to Caboolture 1. Tom Keehen continued his run out the back half and Evil Duke got a lot of the footy in the last quarter. Noosa ran out comfortable 96 point winners. Final score saw Noosa 21-11-137 to defeat Caboolture 5-11-41.
