CAMPBELL Brown will play a one-off game for Greta in the Ovens and King league on April 6.
The 2008 premiership player, who played 205 games for Hawthorn and Gold Coast, was looking forward to playing for the Blues against King Valley at W.J. Findlay Oval.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Brown said.
“It’s a big thing for country football when any ex-AFL player gets out and gives something back to grassroots football.
“Greta has been great to deal with, which is one of the reasons I’m excited to be playing for them.
“They have been professional about it from the start and just this week we were able to catch up and have a few beers and get to know each other and sign the paperwork.”
Greta will also hold a sportsman’s night with Brown after the game at the Oaks Function Centre at Wangaratta racecourse.
Brown’s father Mal will also attend.
Greta vice-president Dan McCarthy said the deal had been a long time in the making.
“We were looking at a number of dates,” he said.
“Now it’s all come together, thanks to the support of King Valley allowing us to play them as a blockbuster in round 2.”
Brown, 30, will also play games at Devonport and Lower Plenty.
