Laharum gives Taylors Lake a reality check

REIGNING premier Laharum brought Taylors Lake back to earth with a resounding 183-point win at Dock Lake Reserve on Saturday.
The Lakers endured repeated triple-digit hidings last season, but a strong recruiting campaign over summer saw them earn a win over Pimpinio in round one.
Laharum's brilliant 37-goal performance made the Lakers look like they were stuck in 2013.
The tone was set in the first half, when Laharum booted 20 goals to Taylors Lake's three.
There were predictable dominant displays from stars such as coach Shannon Argall, eight goals, Rhys Bennett, five, and Dylan Parish, four, who were among 12 goal kickers for the Mountain Men.
Equally impressive were the club's young players.
Daniel Easson was one of the best players on the ground, and fellow youngsters such as Joe Harrison and Matthew Velthuis drew praise from Argall.
Recruit Oliver Braithwaite was also among the best.
Jeames Offer was voted Taylors Lake's best, and Nathan Koenig was the only multiple goal-kicker with two.
Kyal Murray, ankle, and Zac Anderson, hamstring, left the Lakers short-handed on the bench.
Lakers coach Deek Roberts said the team had completely abandoned its game plan in the heat of the match.
"It was extremely disappointing because the boys didn't follow any of the things we've been working on over the summer, and it was a complete abortion of the game plan," he said.
"A few blokes seemed like they had personal issues with the Laharum players because they were trying to play the man and not the ball.
"The win we had against Pimpinio was good, but we had our head in the clouds all week at training and thought we could just show up and be competitive.
"We're going to have to fight back now we're not happy with this performance and hopefully we'll show that on the track this week."
Argall said the most pleasing aspect of the Mountain Men's win was having more than half the team kick goals.
