Seniors
For three quarters this was tense, tight and tough encounter. The effort and commitment to the contest was outstanding but some skill errors really hurt us. Despite a brave effort for most of the day we just lacked the class of the opposition when the game was on the line and struggled to find a consistent avenue for goal. Trailing by just 2 goals about 10 minutes into the last Scotch were able to find another gear and powered away for a comfortable win.
The usual committed effort from tenacious defender Tom Humphrey and excellent performances from our leaders Sam Williams, Matt Fieldsend and Jake Gotch. Senior debutant Ed Murphy was impressive as was Dan Close. Matt Moore and Liam Wood were also solid 4 quarter performers.
Despite the loss there were plenty of positives and we look forward to the Beaumaris clash at their ground on 26 April. Beaumaris recorded an impressive round 1 win against last years runners up St Bedes so another tough encounter is guaranteed.

Reserves
A pretty poor effort against a most impressive Scotch outfit. We gave them a 6 goal start but for time worked our way back into the game, closing to within 3 goals on several occasions. However the last quarter and a half belonged to the opposition and they ran all over us. Some good individual efforts led by Millwood, Kneebone, and the Oakley brothers. However plenty of others looked a bit underdone or out of touch so a bit more work required on the track.

19 Blues
This week the Blues were away to Beaumaris, who had a good first round win against St. Bedes. The wind was blowing strongly and Beauy had the benefit in the 1st quarter. The Blues started well with Adrian Indovino creating many opportunities around the ground and Scot Vawser doing well in midfield. At the end of quarter both teams were even on 3 goals apiece.
The 2nd quarter saw the Blues start well with a few early goals and James Howard leading up forward with 3 and Matt Dumbleton winning plenty of ball in the mid field. Towards the end of quarter Blues let Beauy in for a couple of cheap goals, which let them off the hook. Blues kicked 5 for the qtr and Beauy 3 and we held a half time lead of 1 goal.
The third saw Beauy come out strongly with some early goals. Jack Gava was still well on top in defence and Dave Commins working hard through the mid field. However we failed to maintain the pressure of first half and Beauy got away with 6 goals to take a 5 goal lead going into last qtr.
The 4th quarter presented a good opportunity for us as we came home with the wind. The quarter was fought out well, with Darcy Craig doing well up forward and Nic Halliday contesting strongly in the Ruck. Unfortunately the boys could not close the gap kicking only 1 goal and Beauy 2. Final score De La 9-8 to Beauy 13-22.
We now have break for Easter and start to focus on 3rd round against Xavier, who have again started the year strongly.
