Last Saturday at Visy Park the Victorian Football League ran a series of games for the 5 metro district leagues and the VAFA. The VAFA was ranked 1 and the Eastern Football League was ranked 2. They played the last game of the day and VAFA won by 46 points after a close contest until 3/4 time. No Haileybury representation but proved we are playing in the very best competition outside AFL & VFL.
With three wins from three matches against the EFL in the past six years and winning the past two matches against AFL Victoria Country and AFL Sydney the VAFA continued a proud tradition. The VAFA's strong representative program and indeed the fantastic history of the Big V proved to everyone what most Amateur people know. The VAFA is the number one community football competition in Victoria, if not Australia.
For interest in the first match the 6th ranked Soutern League (St Pauls, Dingley, East Brighton, Clayton etc) were beaten by the 5th ranked Western League (Port Melb, Deer Park, Altona, Spotswood etc).
The second match was won by the 3rd ranked Northern Football League (Bundoora, Epping, etc) beat the 4th ranked Essendon Football League (Aberfeldie, Keilor, Strathmore etc)
