Laharum claims its second victory

LAHARUM survived a third-quarter scare at the weekend to claim its second victory of the season over a dogged Harrow-Balmoral outfit.
The Mountain Men looked to have the game comfortably at half-time, going into the long break with a 59-point lead.
However, the Roos came out firing in the third quarter and kicked the first four goals to produce some nervous moments for the Laharum faithful.
Forwards Shannon Argall and Jason Przibilla steadied the ship however and re-established the margin by three-quarter time, effectively sealing the result. Argall said the response by his side gave them much confidence heading into the rest of the season.
"I was really happy that we didn't hit the panic button and stuck to our structures," he said.
"Teams are always going to try and make a run at you and the good sides are usually able to respond to that."
Sam Winfield was a standout in the midfield for the Mountain Men, running with Roos coach Brent Forsyth and kicking two goals.
Robert Miller was also impressive for the second consecutive week.
Forsyth said he was happy with the way the Roos competed until the end.
"I said to the boys that if we went into half-time down 10 goals last year, we might have waived the white flag," he said.
"We didn't give up though we stuck with it and got back into the match."
Brent Penny and Damian Van Someren were both named in the best for the Roos after combining for seven goals, while Josh and David Vickery were also impressive.
Forsyth said Harrow-Balmoral was headed in the right direction despite its two losses.
"We're a bit like Port Adelaide in the AFL," he said.
"We won't promise our supporters wins and we won't promise finals, but we will always play hard and compete."
