The footy club extends a warm welcome to Abbie Galea, the newly appointed coach of our inaugural under 15 girls team.
Abbie joins the Roosters after a successful career at Darebin Falcons. She started in the Under 19s at the age of 13 and retired in 2013 with another premiership medal, adding to her previous 3 premiership successes. Abbie has experienced all the highs and lows of footy.
Playing for her school, Santa Maria, from year 7 and captaining the school First 18 in year 12.
Along the way she suffered a broken leg and fractured collar bone. Renowned at the Falcons for her hardness at the ball she comes to West with all the right credentials.
Abbie is also a handy cricketer, playing rep cricket with the Northern Falcons under Jon Hyde.
Currently studying Nursing at ACU, Abbie was undecided whether to continue playing footy in 2014. When approached by the club her "love of footy " was the main reason for her accepting the coaching role. "It's really exciting to be the inaugural girls team coach at this club" stated Abbie. She used to watch her two brothers Ben and Jake play junior footy at West and her cousins, Mick and Tom O'Neiil and Matt Schott currently play senior footy for the Roosters.
All the best, Abbs. We are rapt to have you on board.
Any girls aged 12 to 15 years interested in playing footy lease contact John Schott on 0417340288.
