A very rusty Roos will be clearly better for the run as their lack of match practice showed against a pretty impressive and well-drilled Aspley unit.
Aspley controlled the first half of the game and should have been well in front had it not been for some innacuracy in front of the big sticks.
The Roos started to find their straps in the second half and managed to string together a few neat passages of play and snuck home a winner in the dying minutes.
The Reserve grade squad, however, were very impressive in their clash, running out big winners while the Under 18's went down by a kick in tight morning game.
The Roos will hold a training session and Jemper Presentation next Saturday from 2pm before their round 1 clash against Caloundra the following week.
