Winter Season 2014
Dear Churinga Saints Family
Welcome to the 2014 Season all returning players and to our new families this season. I thank you for your understanding regarding our grading selection process this winter due to the cancelation of our grading day due to the hot weather. I would like to thank the following Selection Committee Members, Leanne Higgins, Jenny Dodd, Jeanette Triantafillou and Kay Noble with their help in selection of teams with approx. 125 players (around 15 new players) this season for the tireless hours of putting teams together along with other requirements for registration. No teams can be changed or players placed into different teams now that the players have been registered. If teams are short on game day a player may be asked to play in a different team, but this process will be done through your coach.
We have registered 13 teams this winter and I would like to thank the following coaches for volunteering their time this season:
Maddie Dodd Open Team 1
Wendy O’Toole Open Team 2
Lisa Dugdale U17 Team 3
Marissa Plant U17 Team 4

All coaches have received their teams and will be in contact with you soon if not already regarding your team and times for training. Again this year training will be held at Aquinas College gymnasium, Great Ryrie Street, Ringwood and the first game is on Saturday 15 March. Fixtures will be available soon and you can check your game time via the following link http://www.foxsportspulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=1-191-36991-0-0&a=TEAMS& please remember your team number for your fixture as we have a few teams in the same age levels. Please contact your coach as soon as possible if you are unable to attend training.
Training is a very important part of your game and helps with the following:
Core stability and balance helps with almost every aspect of attack and defence. Whether you're a shooter standing on one leg, a defender leaning in to guard the ball, or you just like to be able to leap and change position quickly, balance and core stability help improve your game and help you avoid injury.
Explosive speed is needed to sprint into position, change direction suddenly and to leap up to intercept a ball. It's all about improving your power and your leg strength.
Endurance is essential if you want to maintain your pace for the whole game.
A player needs to keep muscles and ligaments strong and flexible, so a cross-training regime that incorporates strength and balance training is essential.
Grading will be the same as Spring season no sections until grading had finished by Round 4. Times of games may change every week due to a win or a loss. Points are kept after grading, this grading seemed to work better in spring season.
I would like to thank the following umpires this season:
Bridget Black
Madeleine Black
Sarah Black
Lucy Breccley
Cassie Carson
Briannon Dodd
Maddison Dodd
Celine Dodd
Alyssa Hawkins
1 Matilda Higgins
E Elizabeth Mason
Kaye Noble
1 Heidi Wojciehowski
Without all these volunteers mentioned above we have no club. As a member of our club we will require your assistance to help with either our BBQ at Bunnings (Easter Monday) or at the canteen at the courts a date will be advised soon. A canteen roster for our club will be sent out soon. Please register your help if you have not done canteen duty in the past or if you would like to volunteer again, any time you have is most appreciated. As a club this is a requirement from Lilydale and Yarra Valley Netball Association (LYVNA) that we help in the canteen for a day or half a day of the season.
AGM and Presentation Night will be held on 13 September at Sacred Heart Primary. Please keep this date free. More details are to come regarding this event.
I look forward to a great season ahead and I’ll see you around the courts.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
