Coburg are delighted to announce another 23 signings ahead of the 2014 season!
Hayden Azzopardi - Azza's an 18 year old from Altona Vikings, where he came 2nd in the WRFL Under 18s Best and Fairest. An elite runner at 190cm, Hayden hasn't been beaten in a time trial all Pre-Season, and has us excited about what he can achieve in 2014.
Tyrone Bean (4th image) - Runner Up in the 2014 Development Best and Fairest, Tyrone had an incredibly strong first season with Coburg. The half-back has been as vocal as ever at training, and even has a feature on Coburg and his story about his indigenous background and adolescence coming up soon on ABC3. We're excited to have Tyrone back!
Jesse Boyd (1st image) - A key player in the development side in 2013, Jesse played several senior games before his season was ended by a PCL injury. Still recovering from this, Jesse is looking to be fit and firing for the latter half of the season. Coming to us from the Cannons, Jesse plays at both ends of the ground, but found himself predominantly playing Full Back, where he was very good.
Danko Bzenic - Danko comes to the club from Avondale Heights, where he managed 9 senior games as a 17 year old last season. Capable of playing down back, in the middle, and up forward, Danko has an infectious personality and a strong skill set to go with it.
John Cooper - Brother of Daniel, Key defender John joins us from North Ringwood, having also plied his trade at Box Hill Hawks in the past. A commanding presence down back, it's great to see John returning to the VFL!
Rhett Coots - Rhett's a key defender coming into his second season at the club. After starting slowly, Rhett became one of the most reliable players in the side last season, and will be looking to grow this season. Will miss the start of the season due to a knee injury, but will be raring to go shortly afterwards.
Julian Hemala - The pocket rocket from Greenvale managed to win the EDFL's under 18 Best and Fairest award despite playing just 9 games at that level! Julian then moved onto the senior side, where he continued to impress. Possessing a good leap and clean hands, Julian is one of the bright prospects at the club this season.
Dion Hill - A key forward from East Keilor, Dion narrowly missed the Cannons squad in 2013 due to injury, but impressed all season at the Cougars. A strong mark with good takeoff speed, Dion was one of the standouts in the first intra-club hitout last week, finding space inside the forward 50 on a number of occasions.
Anthony Liberatore - Libba's an inside midfielder from Pascoe Vale, who has impressed with his movement through traffic at training. Like all Liberatores, he's small in stature, but doesn't let this impact on the way he plays.
Ted Lindon (2nd image) - Returning for his second season, the 20 year old from Wagga Wagga has battled a foot injury throught the pre-season, but is now back on the track and preparing for the new season. A favourite on Coburg TV, Ted played both down back and up forward last season.
Nick Linton (3rd image) - Coming into his fourth year at the club, Lints is now one of the most experienced players on the list. A Development Premiership player in 2012, Nick has found his role as a tagger, and is looking to expand on that this season.
Cody Mance - Cody comes to us from Melbourne Grammar, as well as playing several games for the Sandringham Dragons in 2012. A strong mark and quick mover, Cody will add depth to the midfield group this season.
Jordan Rogers - Jordan comes to the club from Essendon Doutta Stars, where he played 7 senior games in 2013. Jordan has the ability to produce something from nothing, and has great hands.
Jack Ryan - Jack has moved back to Melbourne from Morningside, where he has played the last three years while studying. Winner of their under 18s a few years ago, Jack has also played as a top up player for the Gold Coast Suns Reserves in the NEAFL, as well as in the Foxtel Cup against Port Adelaide Magpies.
Harrison Taylor - Son of Richmond and Collingwood Legend Brian Taylor, Harry is a midfielder from Riddell's Creek. Played several games for the Calder Cannons in 2013, and posseses strong endurance, as well as clean hands.
Brandon Thomas - Brandon's a pacy 19 year old from Essendon Doutta Stars who has improved significantly throughot the pre-season. Brandon predominantly plays as a half forward, and has played senior football for the Stars last season.
Josh Totino - Josh is a 19 year old former Northern Knight who played for Epping in 2013. Josh stands out with his short dreads (soon to be shaved for charity), as well as his ability to read the play and get into the right positions. We're excited to see what Josh can bring to the side this season.
Harrison Wade - 18 year old Harry comes to Coburg from Aberfeldie, where he was best on ground in Abers' Under 18 Grand Final epic win. A strong midfielder at 186cm, Harry has also been involved in many Cannons training programs.
Daniel Walker - Daniel played several games as a lower-age player for the Western Jets in 2012, before injuries got the better of him ahead of the 2013 season. Returning late in the season for Melton, Daniel impressed, and only a fractured wrist on the first day of Pre-Season has slowed him down. Now back at full fitness, we're looking to get the potential out of Daniel he showed before injuries got the better of him.
Charly Williams - Son of Carlton Champion Greg, Charly is like his old man in his ability to read the play and get into the right positions. Played several games for the Cannons in 2013, as well as being part of Abers' Under 18 Premiership.
Tyle Williams - Tyle's a key defender from the Dandenong Stringrays, who also played several matches for Frankston's development side in 2013. Travelling from Rosebud for training for the majority of the Pre-Season, we've been delighted with Tyle's progress, and are looking to get a strong season out of him.
Jack Yelland (5th image) - Returning for a second season at the club, Jack joined Coburg from Berrigan in New South Wales, and had a solid first season. Both capable of playing as a small back and a small forward, Jack will be looking to improve on the 13 games he played in the Development side in 2013.
This takes our list to 63 players ahead of the 2014 season, meaning the list is near completion!
We're delighted that Tom Groves will also be involved in 2014, however after a car accident that left Grovesy with several fractures in his left foot, his impact will be made in the Coaches' Box. Having Grovesy at the last few sessions has been a lift to the boys though, and we're excited to have Tom still involved at the club, where he's been such a huge part for the past 6 seasons!
