The footballers were never headed in their game and scored an emphatic victory over old rivals, Lexton. Kris Brennan kicked the first goal at the three minute mark and Navarre never looked back. The game was well and truly won in the first quarter. VCFL medallist, Ben Scott, was in the action from the beginning and stamped his authority on the game. Ashley Driscoll was a consistent avenue towards goal and kicked three goals in the first term. Team leaders, Daniel Parkin and Brent Flood, impacted on the game with the example they set for their team mates. Bryce Tickner showed his usual dash and picked up a lot of the footy, Daniel Reading was in and under the packs, and Josh Driscoll, who had a stellar finals series, provided a lot of run off half back. Lexton had hardly fired a shot.
The second quarter was much the same as the first. Lexton kicked their first goals for the match, but the Navarre boys kicked a further four to extend their lead. The Grasshoppers had winners all over the ground. Aiden Lee, the recipient of the Umpires medal, burned along his wing and the defence were ruthless not allowing their opponents any opportunities near goal. At half time, Navarre had a 44 point lead.
Coach Parkin implored his players to sustain their first half effort and not let Lexton back into the game in the third. Robertson kicked four goals in the second half to dominate in the forward line. Josh Fowkes and Rhett Murphy won their ruck contests giving Navarre onballers every opportunity to push forward. Nick Murphy, Tom Kaye, Jayden Fowkes and Matt Newton linked up nicely within the defensive arc and coming out of defence, they gave Lexton no opportunity. When Ashley Driscoll put through the final goal of the day, Navarre recorded a 100 point win.
Navarre 19.12.126 defeated Lexton 4.2.26
