Quake's Men's team defeated Boomerangs FS 5-1 on Saturday to progress to the Grand Final.  This means that Quake will contest 5 of the 9 Grand Finals this Saturday.  This is a terrific achievement by the club and a testament to its development policy.

The first of this Saturday's Grand Finals at Dural Sports & Leisure Centre sees Quake's 12 Boys take on Montain Majik @ 10.00 AM.  The 12 Boys have been a work in progress over the past 3 years with Coach Brett Hewit taking the boys through from our Development Squad to last year's semi finals and now into this year's Grand Final - picking up the the Minor Premiership on the way this year.  The squad is brimful of talented players who play a very sophisticated brand of futsal.  They take on Mountain Majik having split results with them this year losing the very first game of the year to them 3-1 but reversing the result, and the score, in Round 8.

Our 16 Boys will take on Mascot Vipers @ 2.00 PM.  This Grand Final appearance has been 5 years in the making with Coach Jimmy Gilligan working patiently with the vast majority of these boys since they were 11.  Early indications weren't promising but the boys, and Jimmy, kept coming back year after year and after coppping some frightful hidings in the early days the boys improved to the extent they were just one game away from a Grand Final last year.  This year they have set the pace and won the Minor Premiership by 9 points.  But things won't be easy on Saturday with Vipers pinching the first game between the teams 6-5 and Quake winning the second game 6-3.

And now we come to the senior teams with all 3 making the Grand Final.  First off we have the Youth playing @ 4.00 PM.  This squad is comprised of at least 8 players who have never played futsal anywhere but at Quake with just the 1 player joining the squad from outside the club this year.  The turn around in form and results from last year has been remarkable and the team's success is based on having the stingiest defence in the competition.  They have plenty of offensive weapons and Saturday's result will come down to whether or not the boy's take their opportunties.  All 3 games against Dural have been tight affairs with Dural taking the first contest 2-1, the second game resulting in a 2-2 draw (which saw Dural take the Minor Premiership by 1 point from Quake) and Quake winning the Major Semi 1-0.

Our Women take the court @ 5.00 PM and will play in their 6th Grand Final in a row!  This is a remarkable achievement in any sport and a case can be made that this is one of the best teams in all of futsal.  Again, the majority of the team have never played futsal at another club, and all but 1 of the few who have played elsewhere have played at the club at least 2 years or more.  The girls are looking to erase the disappointment of leading last year's Grand Final but losing it in the end.  They also won the Minor Premiership by a clear 9 points and take on the team that finished 2nd on the ladder, Enfield Rovers.  The girls have really turned it on against Rovers this year winning all 3 encounters by scores of 3-2, 2-1 and 4-1 in the Major Semi and are pumped and ready to go on Saturday.

Finally, the 2 form teams of the competition will fight it out for the Men's title with Quake taking on Minor Premiers Dural Warriors @ 6.15 PM.  Quake started the season poorly and it didn't look likley that they would make the playoffs but the team struck a rich vein of form and only dropped 4 points out of 30 in their last 10 games to finish 3rd on the table on goal difference.  This squad is a nice mix of youth and experience and old and new players.  Well over half the squad have only ever played at Quake with several playing in Quake's first ever Championship winning team (the Youth team of several years ago).  The introduction of some quality players from outside the club over the past year or two has resulted in Quake playing in a Men's Grand Final for the first time since winning the Championship 5 years ago.  Dural are deservedly red hot favourites, with numerous current Futsalroos in their team and having won the Minor Premiership by 4 points after going 12 games undefeated.  But Quake are in with a chance having drawn their first encounter 3-3 and then bringing Dural's undefeated streak to an end with a 5-3 win in the last round.  Admittedly Dural were understrength in both games but you can only play against what's in front of you and the boys showed that if Dural don't bring their A game a Quake win is not out of the question.

The club is rightly proud to have 5 teams contesting Grand Finals this Saturday.  Even more so when you consider the players taking the court wearing the Purple so proudly - players that have come to Quake to learn the game and play it at the highest level and who have stuck with the club through the good times and the bad.  We wish them all the best of luck and hope that they reap the rewards from all their hard work over so many years.
