In November 2013, 50 players from the western corridor participated in the Western magpies Academy Training at Chelmer. Here are the some photos from the day.
The academy was co-ordinated by former Magpies coach, Paul Grentell. As well as coaching the Magpies, Grentell has a lengthy involvement with Queensland rep footy, having been an assistant coach for the Queensland U18 Scorpions in recent years, and also assisted at Morningside.
As well as Grentell, the academy utilised the talents of experienced and qualified coaches, Pat Garner, Anthony McDonald, Anthony Corrie and other senior Magpies players.
The Academy program centred on improving players’ skill sets, with a focus on core skills, decision making an general game play.
