The Sydney AFL have announced the competition structure for the 2014 season.
Premier Division is reduced to ten teams next year. Our seniors will remain in Premier Division.
But dropping two teams from Premier Division has had a knock-on effect to Division One. With only three wins this season, North Shore finished in ninth position; but dropping two Premier Division teams into Div One means that two Div One teams drop down to Div Two. Unfortunately we are one of the teams that drops down.
It's disappointing for our reserves to go to Div Two. But after a season where wins were hard to come by, it gives our reserves a chance to regain their best form with hopefully more wins. And if we can win the Div Two premiership, we can return to Div One in 2015.
Our Division Four team remains in this division. Numbers in that group have gone so well that we have enough for an extra team next year. And so we have been accepted to field a team in Division Five next season.
The Under 18s competition will become Under 19s in 2014. The structure for this competition will be announced in the near future; but it is expected that there will again be two divisions, with our Under 19s team remaining in Division One.
The fixtures for 2014 will be announced in late December or early January. We'll put them up on the North Shore website when they are announced.
